Ashley Danenhower, EAGALA Certified, LMSW, USUI Holy Fire III, Reiki II Practitioner

Ashley believes that the value of learning about different cultures from her living in different regions of the US and learning about different sub-cultures facilitates her depth of understanding, in several different applications. Part of her experience in working with marginalized populations emerged from when she used ABA therapeutic models with autistic children from 1997- 1999, then using her Bachelor of Science degree in Art Therapy from Lesley University with her work with Dual-Diagnosed veterans, and Adults with Disabilities from at various locations and years as a volunteer, as well as, an Art Psychotherapy apprenticeship in Topeka, KS at Colmery O’Neal Veteran’s Administration, with Robert Ault, the co-Founder if the American Association of Art Therapy in 1999. In 2014 she moved to New Mexico for her master’s degree in clinical social work, graduating with magnum cum laude and inducted in the high honors society of Phi Kappa Phi. When Ms. Danenhower lived in New Mexico she was honored to be invited as a hearing volunteer within a Deaf Community from 2015-2019, using this equine-assisted psychotherapy, to aid in family support group relief. Ms. Danenhower also spent a year collaborating with staff to provide appropriate care of indigent populations during their stay in the state psychiatric wards. In 2018, Ms. Danenhower learned more about crisis counseling, while working with a non-profit state agency, focusing her attention the victims of the Spring Creek Fire, on Methamphetamine crisis interventions used from within a women’s birthing center and nursing home interventions to help decrease feelings of isolation. In July 2020, Ms. Danenhower opened her business An Inner Lens, LLC and established a program in Anderson South Carolina providing open-air equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) to couples, individuals, and group sessions with teenagers. During COVID, these services, were available when many other in-person services were not available. Ms. Danenhower hopes to provide a supplemental service to the Quiet Corner of Connecticut, through finding ways to create access for those who would benefit from her Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy techniques. This path will prove to be an undoubtedly interesting venture, in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut, as this area has yet to experience this specific kind of equine-assisted service. Looking forward, Ms. Danenhower hopes to develop programs with her niche of equine-assisted services that can be funded through grants, allowing this profound work to be accessible to those who are ready to benefit from empowerment, and build resiliency. Ashley serves the adult population for individual and couples work, currently.
